Kathy M. Flanagan has been a judge of the Circuit Court of Cook County since
1988. She is currently assigned to the Law Division, and is the Supervising Judge
of the Motion Section. She has been a lecturer or presenter at seminars for the
Illinois Judicial Conference, Chicago Bar Association, Illinois Institute of
Continuing Legal Education, Illinois Bar Association, Illinois Trial Lawyers
Association, Illinois Defense Counsel, Chicago Daily Law Bulletin, Society of Trial
Lawyers, and the National Business Institute. She was an attorney in private
practice 10 years prior to becoming a judge.
Judge Flanagan received her law degree from John Marshall Law School and her
undergraduate degree from St. Xavier University. She worked as a teacher in the
Chicago Public Schools prior to attending law school and she worked for a labor
union during law school. She is lifelong resident of Cook County.
